Natural flavor enrichment from old casks

The secret behind the unique taste of Non Plus Ultra lies in the carefully selected distillates and casks that form the foundation of each blend. Each NPU is created using premium sugarcane-based spirits matured in old oak casks previously used for whisky or fortified wines such as port, sherry and Madeira. For example, NPU Black Edition is based on spirits matured in old, heavily charred bourbon casks, while Ambre D’Or is created from spirits matured in casks that previously held fortified wines as well as sweet and elegant dessert wines.

Casks previously used for fortified wine or bourbon are rich in flavours and aromas from their former contents. During maturation, each individual blend takes on these characteristics and develops layers of complexity, sweetness and aromatic depth that cannot be achieved with new oak alone. At the same time, the maturation process rounds out the flavour and enhances its richness.
