This blend pays tribute to Albert Heinrich Riise (1810–1882) – the Danish pharmacist, adventurer and craftsman who transformed the resources of the West Indies into refined spirits. XO Reserve Tribute is inspired by the same passion for discovery and dedication to quality that shaped his life’s work: from building a thriving apothecary business, through his scientific contributions in documenting the flora and fauna of the islands, to crafting complex blends that still carry his name under the historic Old St. Croix trademark. There are 24,407 bottles of XO Reserve Tribute available from 4/9-2026.

XO Reserve Tribute is crafted from a selection of carefully aged molasses-based casks sourced from renowned distilleries across the West Indies and Central America. The blend marries mature casks with younger spirits to create a full-bodied profile with elegance and structure. A slow fermentation enhances its complexity, followed by traditional distillation to preserve its layered character.
Born in 1810 on the Danish island of Ærø, Albert Heinrich Riise was appointed pharmacist of St. Thomas in 1838. A passionate botanist with an explorer’s heart, he studied rare plants, crafted medicinal blends and transformed Caribbean ingredients into something truly remarkable.
