There’s not much that beats a good bottle. Unless you have an entire collection.
For many enthusiasts, the passion doesn’t stop at a single favourite. It grows into a collection – featuring different blends, special editions, complete series and bottles, each with its own story.
In Denmark, more than 7,000 fans and collectors come together in our Facebook Fan Club, while a growing community in Germany also shares a passion for A.H. Riise and Old St. Croix.
Since the name changed from A.H. Riise to Old St. Croix, the world of collecting has taken on a new dimension. No new bottles are being released under the A.H. Riise name, making existing A.H. Riise editions even more interesting to collectors. Some are already rare and difficult to find, while others are still available from selected retailers or on the collectors’ market.
Meanwhile, the story continues under the Old St. Croix name, with new blends, Limited Editions and special releases finding their way into both new and existing collections.
For some, it’s about tasting different blends and sharing them with friends. Others are on the hunt for specific series, Limited Editions or bottles that are no longer produced. And for many, it’s simply the joy of following the brand’s history through its bottles – from A.H. Riise to Old St. Croix.
Here, we’ve gathered inspiration and useful tips to help you start your own collection – or expand the one you already have.

There is no single right way to collect A.H. Riise and Old St. Croix.
Some collectors take a broad approach and aim to collect as many different bottles as possible. Others focus on specific series, Limited Editions or special releases. Some actively seek out rare bottles that have long since been discontinued, while others prefer to follow the latest Old St. Croix releases and build their collection from there.
For many collectors, A.H. Riise and Old St. Croix naturally go hand in hand. A collection that began with A.H. Riise doesn’t necessarily end with the name change – it continues with new releases under Old St. Croix. Likewise, someone who starts collecting Old St. Croix may become interested in tracking down older A.H. Riise bottles.
The name change has also made A.H. Riise bottles a closed chapter in the world of collecting. No new editions are being released under the name, which means the number of existing bottles will only decrease as they are opened or disappear from the market.
What all collectors share is the joy of building a personal collection – whether the bottles are meant to be opened and shared, saved for a special occasion or proudly displayed on a shelf.

The short answer is: Today, almost every bottle released under the A.H. Riise name can be of interest to collectors.
Since the name change, no new bottles have been produced under the A.H. Riise name. This means that even editions that were once part of the regular range now represent a chapter in the brand’s history that has come to an end. Some are still relatively easy to find, while others have already become rare and highly sought after.
Particularly interesting are discontinued Limited Editions, special series and bottles produced in limited quantities. These include XO Reserve Single Barrel, XO Sauternes Cask, Non Plus Ultra Sauternes Cask and the former Royal Danish Navy Frogman 58%.
Centennial Celebration, Platinum Reserve and Founders Reserve 1, 2 and 3 are other examples of bottles that hold a special place in many collectors’ collections. They are no longer produced but can occasionally still be found at retailers or on the collectors’ market.
The 50 cl bottle of Royal Danish Navy Westindian Bitter has also been discontinued and can make an interesting addition to a collection.
At the same time, new Old St. Croix releases have become part of the collecting world. Limited Editions, numbered bottles and special releases can be worth following from the very beginning – both for new collectors and for those looking to continue an existing A.H. Riise collection under the Old St. Croix name.
Ultimately, what makes a bottle a collector’s item depends on the individual collector. For some, it’s rarity. For others, it’s the design, the history, a particular series or simply the desire to make their collection as complete as possible.

Spirit drinks, rum and other spirits are generally less demanding to store than wine, which often requires more precise control of temperature and humidity. Thanks to their high alcohol content, spirits typically have a long shelf life, but proper storage is still important – especially when it comes to rare bottles and collectibles, where the contents, labels and original packaging should all be preserved in the best possible condition:
Store bottles at a stable room temperature, ideally around 18–22°C, and at normal humidity levels. Avoid significant temperature fluctuations.
Avoid direct sunlight. UV light can affect the contents and cause labels and packaging to fade. A dark cabinet or a room away from direct sunlight is therefore ideal.
Unlike wine, bottles of spirits should be stored upright to prevent prolonged contact between the alcohol and the cork, which can affect both the cork and the contents.
If you want to preserve a bottle as a collector’s item, keep it sealed and unopened. Once a bottle is opened, the contents are exposed to oxygen, which can affect the flavour and aroma over time.
Keep the original gift box or packaging. Especially for rare and discontinued bottles, complete original packaging can influence their value as collectibles.
Keep receipts and any other documentation that can help verify the bottle’s origin and authenticity.
