Returning to Old St. Croix’s West Indian roots
Old St. Croix Spirits has entered into a partnership with the travel and tourism agency Atlantic Link, working to raise awareness about the Danish West Indies.
En dégustant l’assemblage Fregatten Jylland, vous contribuez à préserver un pan de l’histoire maritime danoise dont nous sommes fiers : la frégate Jylland. Ce navire est l’un des plus grands et des plus anciens bateaux en bois au monde. Il a effectué cinq voyages vers les Antilles danoises entre 1871 et 1887. Si l’on en croit l’histoire, l’équipage était récompensé par une ration quotidienne d’alcool provenant de la maison Albert Heinrich Riise. En 2025, la vente de Fregatten Jylland a rapporté plus de 170 000 couronnes danoises, qui ont été reversées pour la restauration du navire-musée historique.
Arôme profond et intense de boîte à cigares, caramel et chocolat avec une touche herbacée et mentholée.
La saveur est douce au début avant de s’intensifier avec des notes d’ananas, de melon miel et de banane. On perçoit également le goût séduisant du chocolat au lait.
Une touche d’écorce d’orange suivie d’une longueur en bouche légèrement épicée.

Fregatten Jylland fait partie de notre collection Royal Danish Navy, une série d’assemblages composés de fûts provenant de distilleries renommées des Caraïbes et d’Amérique centrale. Une fermentation et une distillation lentes confèrent profondeur et caractère, qui s’affinent grâce à un vieillissement en fûts de chêne jeunes et vieux. Après stockage, la puissance est délicatement ramenée à 45 %, juste assez pour maintenir le cap et réchauffer toute la cabine. Un assemblage marin harmonieux et plein de caractère, avec une histoire dans chaque goutte.
La frégate Jylland est en cale sèche à Ebeltoft depuis 1994. Les dons provenant de fondations et de projets de soutien tels que celui-ci contribuent à financer l’entretien courant. Nous vous recommandons vivement de visiter ce lieu exceptionnel, riche en culture et en histoire maritime.

La frégate Jylland a joué un rôle central dans l’histoire de la marine danoise et a fait cinq escales dans les îles danoises des Antilles, où le pharmacien Albert Heinrich Riise a fondé sa pharmacie. « C’est ce lien historique qui nous inspire à soutenir la préservation de la frégate Jylland, afin que les générations futures puissent apprécier et tirer les leçons de notre passé commun. Nous sommes fiers de pouvoir contribuer à cet important travail de restauration et remercions tous les fans d’Old St. Croix qui ont acheté une bouteille de Fregatten Jylland et ont ainsi contribué à ce don », déclare Michael Bielefeldt, directeur général d’Old St. Croix Spirits.
En revenant à l’appellation Old St. Croix, nous revenons vers le passé pour mieux nous tourner vers l’avenir. Avec ce nom, nous perpétuons la vision originale qui animait Albert Heinrich Riise lorsqu’il fit connaître le rhum danois des Antilles bien au-delà des frontières des îles, il y a plus de 150 ans.
